ORQUESTRA MIMO

To create and develop the MIMO Festival Orchestra is one of the most important aspects of this event. This goal aims to fodder orchestras and orchestral ensembles in the NE region and to stimulate and help develop a broader repertoire. Each year a resident composer is selected and young musicians can study and learn their repertoire and its esthetic aspects relevant to each of the works. The resident composer participates intensively in the rehearsals and in the final public performanceto in a concert conducted by Guilherme Bernstein.

Multi-instrumentalist and composer Egberto Gismonti and Maestro Duda already had this honor in past editions. MIMO´s guest this year is Wagner Tiso, composer, arranger and pianist, is an esteemed artist in popular Brazilian music circles, also including feature film, TV and dance plays soundtracks. He was one of pioneers in bringing popular music to the concert hall, arranging and composing for symphony orchestras. His fist season at MIMO was back in 2004.
