Exile Songs: the flame that wiped all off gathers testimonials of Caetano Veloso, Gilberto Gil, Jorge Mautner and Jards Macale about a troubled period in the Brazilian history: the imprisonment wave that follwed the Al-5 Decree, back in 1968. Arrested in Sao Paulo and transferred to Rio de Janeiro, Caetano and Gil left Brazil and headed off to their exile in London. The testimonials reveal episodes unknown to the public, such as the gig that prisioner Gil performed to the troops at the army base. Furthermore, Caetano talks about his dialogs with film maker Glauber Rocha on the role of the army in the Brazilian political life.
